The journal is owned and published by Indian Association of Laboratory Physicians (IALP).
Journal of Laboratory Physicians (JLP) is the official journal of The Indian Association of Laboratory Physicians (IALP), a professional, literary, non-commercial, organization founded in 1990. It aims to promote laboratory sciences in all hemispheres. With the tremendous advancements in clinical care and developments in science, diagnostic branches like pathology, microbiology, immunology, biochemistry and radiology have come into the forefront in patient management. Globally, there has been an increase inpatient on life support systems, immunocompromised patients, preterm and geriatric patients, adding a new dimension to diagnostic medicine. Having this aim, the association started JLP in 2009, as a bi-annual journal. It became a quarterly publication in 2017.
The journal publishes original communications on all aspects of biomedical research and teaching in laboratory procedures contributing to the advancement of knowledge in all sub-specialties of diagnostic medicine. The scope of the journal allows publication of original research papers, review articles, recent and novel laboratory procedures, case reports, case discussions, and letters to the Editor on any aspect of diagnostic and laboratory medicine including clinical biochemistry, clinical microbiology(bacteriology, mycology, mycobacteriology, parasitology, and virology),clinical pathology (including chemical pathology, surgical pathology, cytopathology, hematology), immunology/serology including HIV/AIDS, human and animal genetics, endocrinology and hormone assays, applied biotechnology, nuclear medicine, molecular biology and other related disciplines. The Journal of Laboratory Physicians (JLP) is also associated with AIIMS, Bhopal and prestigious associations like Indian Pharmacological Society etc. The journal focuses on original articles and case reports predominantly and follows a double-blinded peer review process.
Our audience includes laboratory physicians, treating physicians from all major specialties and researchers from the field of Pathology, Microbiology, Clinical Biochemistry, Clinical Pharmacology and Molecular Medicine.
JLP has a highly rigorous peer-review process that makes sure that manuscripts are scientifically accurate, relevant, novel and important. Authors disclose all conflicts, affiliations and financial associations such that the published content is not biased.
The editorial board comprises a panel of experts from various disciplines of medical and allied sciences to provide their expertise and guidance in maintaining the clarity of content and focus of the purpose for the journal.

An article published in the journal can be viewed without a fee by readers all over the world. The author also gets to retain copyright to the article and the figures. This allows authors to extend their exposure in the world of medical research and get worldwide recognition for their work.

The journal uses plagiarism check software (iThenticate) on the Editor’s and Reviewer’s panel in the manuscript management system which is used to check and control Plagiarism for each article. Any manuscript that is found to have plagiarism is rejected.
We use PORTICO for our third-party repository for all articles published with us. All our articles are assigned a DOI number.
Journal of Laboratory Physicians is an open-access journal, and manuscripts published are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial-Share Alike 4.0 License (CC-BY-NC-SA 4.0), which allows others to remix, transform, and build upon the work non-commercially, as long as appropriate credit is given and the new creations are licensed under the identical terms.
Articles published online under the Ahead of Print model are considered published and can be cited and quoted using the DOI as the reference source. Journal of Laboratory Physicians has a policy that changes will not be made after the publication of an article without following accepted procedures for making corrections to the scientific record.
