In this exclusive with Medical Dialogues, Dr. Nandita Mohan discusses an article evaluating the knowledge, attitude, and practices (KAP) of housekeeping and sanitation workers in infection control within clinical service laboratories of a tertiary care hospital. Published in the Journal of Laboratory Physicians, this cross-sectional study utilized a validated KAP questionnaire to assess safe housekeeping and sanitation practices. The findings revealed that the majority of participants demonstrated good knowledge, positive attitudes, and safe practices, with mean scores of 17.65 ± 2.58 (knowledge), 32.97 ± 2.75 (attitudes), and 18.16 ± 2.12 (practices). This is the first study of its kind in India to systematically evaluate KAP among health and sanitation workers in a hospital setting, underscoring the importance of targeted training to improve infection control and patient safety. This journal is published by Scientific Scholar.
